Father, may your unfailing love rest upon the men and women who serve this country in the area of media. Men and women, both at home and abroad, who often risk their lives for the sake of truth, and the sake of communicating that truth. May you protect and encourage. Father may your unconditional love rest upon members of the media as they strive to put aside their own desires and bias in order to report with integrity. May you show grace. Provide strength, peace and hope to family members of journalists who have died while serving the public, and those attacked or threatened in the line of duty. Help us to continue the support of journalistic freedom in order that the courage of these individuals was not in vein. Grant wisdom to those in key positions and to seek your counsel in all aspects of their lives. Thank you for the blessing of living in America where we are free to express our religious convictions and pray in a public setting when our brothers and sisters in other parts of the world are persecuted simply for owning a Bible. Prevent such activity from ever entering our homeland. As we celebrate today, Prayer is America’s Hope. Prayer is also the hope for our world. Lord, we join together in a fervent prayer for those involved in Christian Media that they will stay true to their convictions no matter the cost and that you will go before them and prepare their way. Provide an extra supply of protection and wisdom. May lives continue to change through Christian Media. Protect the air waves and our ability to use them to communicate the gospel message – that you came to give us the ultimate freedom. In a world where censorship and dictatorial rule is evident within reach
of our borders, may this country continue to uphold and support freedom
of speech, freedom of religion, and our right to stand on the steps of
City Hall on a day designated by our government to be a day of prayer,
and to openly ask you, God our Father, to bless us and the thousands
who serve our country in the field of mass communication. Take joy my
Lord in what you witness here today. Amen. |
